Slow Djinn Fez is Reno's very own middle-eastern folk fusion band. They play traditional music, sometimes in very nontraditional ways, from Middle Eastern countries including Egypt, Israel, & Turkey. Don't be surprised if some Surf Rock or Techno flavors show up in the mix! At most of their shows they work with one of the talented belly dancers from the area.
Slow Djinn Fez has as many as six members and they play instruments including: violin, bouzouki, clarinet, soprano sax, oud (the middle-eastern lute), acoustic and electric guitars, bass, and percussion such as doumbeck, tabla, and tar.
Moonlit Arabian Nights CD
Slow Djinn Fez recently composed and performed the music for a dance production of "Moonlit Arabian Nights," featuring the Wing and a Prayer modern dancers and the Asha Belly Dancers. The music includes both original compositions and traditional Middle Eastern folk tunes, and a CD featuring songs from the show is available from this website via PayPal.
