MeadowRock Percussion has been involved in percussion education for over 20 years, including drum circles and our popular "Music in the Schools" concerts. Here are some of our offerings:
"Drums Around the World"
Over the centuries, people across the globe have developed thousands of percussion instruments, ranging from simple click sticks to booming bass drums to melodic marimbas. In this "edu-tational" program, Pete Fairley shares stories and sounds from many different cultures. Participants will discover the wide variety of percussion that is employed in world music, and learn about techniques unique to particular musical styles. They will also be entertained by traditional stories told to the accompaniment of the instruments featured in the tales. The session concludes with a short drum circle, where everyone is invited to pick up an instrument and express their own internal rhythm!
